Anniversary celebrations for the Barbour team!

Celebrations are well under way here, as our online directory service reaches its 10th year in business. Barbour Product Search is the latest update, which is now in its second year of successfully showcasing leading products and manufacturers to an ever growing audience.

Launched in February 2009, Barbour Product Search initially had a massive 24,000 pages of online content, now there's over 28,000 pages of fresh, detailed construction product information - for the architect, contractor and building specifier audience.

Barbour Product Search has had exceptional feedback from users, and great positive comments from fellow advertisers as well. Our hard copy building product directory, The Barbour Compendium, is the inspiration behind our online service - both have proved to be a resounding success. The 34th edition of the Barbour Compendium is due out in May!

For over 70 years, the Barbour Group has provided industry leading services to the construction community. Consisting of Barbour ABI, Barbour Product Search and Barbour Compendium, the Group is renowned within the construction sector and is spilt across two sites - Ascot and Cheshire Oaks.

Barbour ABI reports on every new building project in the UK, enhancing planning application and public tender information at each stage of the construction lifecycle.

Barbour has dedicated teams to deal with all aspects of our customers journey, from Sales and Client Management to Editorial.

Barbour launches new ‘Product Search’ website

Barbour, publishers of the leading ‘big red’ building products directory Barbour Compendium, have enhanced their portfolio with the launch of a revolutionary website, called Barbour Product Search (www.barbourproductsearch.info).

This innovation is a direct result of customer feedback through Barbour’s user group research programme. Customers provided vital insight into helping Barbour understand the potential features and usefulness of an online product reference source – including clear search routes to products, good quality product images and fast search results.

Built on an enhanced technical platform, Barbour Product Search offers architects, contractors and other building specifiers fast access to detailed building product information. With a fully searchable database of products and suppliers, the site delivers over 24,400 pages of construction information, features include:

  • Over 5,800 product images
  • 700 case studies
  • 2,300 product catalogues
  • 230 product news items
  • Technical data and project information

Product listings on the new site are quick and easy for users to navigate. It also drives all the latest news from manufacturers straight to a user’s inbox by delivering regular e-newsletters.

Director of Barbour Manufacturer Services Division, Ian Hancocks comments: “A fast and proactive approach to delivering product information is at the heart of Barbour Product Search. We offer users not only a choice of how they search for products, but we take new product and project news directly to their desktops, in a punchy and digestible format.”

The site will be updated daily by our in-house team of editors to ensure the quality and currency of content. Ongoing enhancements to the site will be delivered throughout 2009 as part of our roll out programme.

Barbour Product Search is a companion service to Barbour’s annual printed product directory, the Barbour Compendium, which has been a flagship publication amongst architects and specifiers for over 40 years.

As part of this launch, Barbour Product Search and Barbour Compendium will become fully integrated with Barbour ABI.
